4th of July Fireworks in Louisville

Fireworks 4th of JulyThere’s no doubt that the city of Louisville LOVES fireworks displays.  Each year we like to show off by putting on the largest fireworks display in the country (and most of the world) 2 weeks before the Kentucky Derby at Thunder over Louisville.  Louisville is no slouch when it comes to the 4th of July either!  There are tons of fireworks displays all over the city on the 3rd and 4th of July that you can enjoy so let’s break down my two favorites (they are both free).

One of the best places for fireworks and fun in Louisville on the 4th of July is in Crescent Hill.  The Crescent Hill Old Fashioned Fourth of July Celebration is a two-day festival with over 100 artist booths, live music, pet shows, food, beer, activities for the kids, and fireworks shows both nights!  This is an action packed adventure that takes place on the grounds of the Peterson-Dumesnil House on South Peterson Ave.  This year the festival will be Thursday July 4th and Friday July 5th from 10:00 AM to 10:00 PM with artists booths closing around 6:00 or 7:00 each day and fireworks shows beginning at 10:00 PM both nights.  Bring the family, bring the dog (pets must be on a leash), bring everyone on your street!

If you’re a fan of all of the above but you want to be on the Ohio River instead, you can check out the Waterfront Independence Festival in Waterfront Park downtown Louisville.  This is also a two-day festival featuring live music, baseball (Louisville Bats play at Slugger Field at 7:00 pm on July 3rd), food, beer, activities for the kids, and fireworks shows both nights.  No artist booths here, though.  This year the Waterfront Independence Festival is on July 3rd and July 4th beginning at 5:00pm both days with fireworks beginning at 10:00 PM on both nights.  July 3rd is country night featuring Justin Moore and the 4th of July will feature Kool and the Gang!

Food, fun, and fireworks on the Fourth of July is what we all enjoy!  No matter where you watch fireworks this 4th of July please be safe.
