Spring is definitely in the air. It was about 85 degrees in Louisville yesterday, and today it is 59 degrees. Sounds about right. Without the crazy weather, though, we wouldn’t get to experience the amazing beauty that comes to Louisville with the Spring season. Trees bloom, flowers blossom, and outdoor activities return. This weekend is Old Louisville SpringFest, an outdoor festival in one of the most beautiful and most historic parts of our city that celebrates Springtime with the arts, antiques, architectural remnants, artisan-made crafts, music, food, bourbon, and a lot more!
Old Louisville SpringFest takes place on 1st St between Oak and Magnolia. Booths are setup along both sides of 1st st, the Kosair Kids Zone is situated on E Ormsby, and the music, food and beer will be located on and near W Ormsby. Old Louisville SpringFest Map
This Friday and Saturday, May 16 and 17, 2014. On Friday, the festivities begin at 5:00 pm and continue until 9:00 pm. On Saturday, the Old Louisville SpringFest runs all day beginning at 10:00 am and ending at 9:00 pm. Also on Saturday the Kosair Kids Zone will operate from noon until 6:00 pm for children 12 and under featuring bouncy houses, activity tents, carnival games, and a slide.
This street fair celebrates Old Louisville’s love of history, culture, diversity, food, music, family, and philanthropy. It’s an opportunity for neighbors to get together in fellowship with one another, celebrate, shop, eat, drink, and jam! It’s also an opportunity for those Louisvillians who don’t see the beauty of Old Louisville every day to be completely immersed in the awesomeness of the neighborhood.
Everyone is invited! Also, there is a huge list of vendors and food trucks who will be participating. Whether you live in Old Louisville or the east end, the Highlands or the west end, Clifton or South Louisville, you will want to be part of the Old Louisville SpringFest.
For the Residents
The Old Louisville Neighborhood Council and SpringFest Planning Committee are aware that the festival can present parking issues for residents that usually park on the street. There is a parking lot that is being made available for residents to park in throughout the weekend in order to help alleviate some of these problems. Details about parking passes for residents.
Rain or shine, the Old Louisville SpringFest is taking place this weekend. Come be a part of the excitement and take in the beauty as we celebrate the end of this ridiculous winter!
