This time of year is non-stop crazy in Louisville. We just finished a 3 week party that involves horses, last weekend was jam packed with activities from St Matthews to Old Louisville, and this weekend is Memorial Day. With no shortage of action this week I wanted to highlight a couple of my favorite Memorial Day Weekend events here in Louisville.
Kentucky Reggae Festival | The Louisville Water Tower
The Kentucky Reggae Festival has been one of my favorite Louisville events since I was in high school. Back then it was always the final push across the finish line into the Summer season. Anymore, I don’t have to worry about when school will be out, but Reggae Fest still signifies the beginning of Summer to me. The Louisville Water Tower is a fantastic, historic site. It has recently undergone renovations to restore the historic value in the water tower, and the results are incredible. Reggae Fest sets up on the lawn in front of the Louisville Water Tower right on the Ohio River. The 3-day festival features 10 different reggae bands, food vendors that focus on the flavor of the islands, drinks, and the huge Caribbean Market where you can shop for jewelry, beads, gifts, arts and crafts, and more! The Kentucky Reggae Festival is a perfect Memorial Day event in Louisville for you and your family. Enjoy the weather and the island atmosphere!

Abbey Road on the River | The Belvedere
Do you like the Beatles? ‘Cause we have Beatle mania this weekend at the Belvedere! Abbey Road on the River is a festival centered around the music of the Beatles. With over 60 bands mixed on four different stages, this Beatles festival is no joke. Stages are setup at the Belvedere lawn, the Galt House hotel, and The Muhammed Ali Center, and with a combination of indoor and outdoor stages, Abbey Road on the River is a rain or shine event. Dress like your favorite Beatle or just show up and take pictures of all the people who do. Either way, this festival is something that you don’t want to miss. Check out the full lineup and schedule of bands, or buy tickets now. Abbey Road on the River takes place Thursday, May 22nd through Sunday, May 26th.
Maybe you like to spend your Memorial Day weekend at the lake, but for those who don’t, try checking out the Kentucky Reggae Festival or Abbey Road on the River. These two Louisville events are sure to please!
