The space formerly known as De La Torres on Bardstown Rd at Bonnycastle Ave seems to be coming together nicely. As I was walking by over the weekend, I noticed that the interior buildout is beginning to take shape. The Highlands has a new restaurant and wine bar moving in called Louvino, and it appears that I’m not the only one who is looking forward to its arrival!
When I stumbled upon this news back in March, I immediately looked for the Louvino Facebook page so that I could keep up to date with their progress. When I clicked the “like” button, there were 17 other people that had already liked their page. Today when I went to their FB page to get the menu, I noticed that their number of likes is now at almost 1,200! Apparently there are other people like me eagerly awaiting the fresh scene that is moving into such a classic Highlands spot.
I don’t know much, but what I do know is that the menu of small plates looks amazing. The culinary team is headed by Chef Tavis Rockwell, formerly of Jack’s Lounge and Equus. I haven’t seen anything with regards to the wines they will be offering, but one can only imagine that the list will be quite diverse. Owners Chad and Lauren Coulter also own two Uptown Art locations, where you create art while drinking wine. Louvino will serve wine by the glass, wine by the bottle, and they will offer tasting flights as well. From what I understand, Louvino would like to be open in July, which is just around the corner. I will be following up with the owners soon in order to get a final picture of the Highlands new wine bar and their plans for opening.
I feel like this will be such an excellent addition to the neighborhood! We really don’t have anything like Louvino in the Highlands, and especially in that location. Looking forward to the opening I say, “Welcome to the Highlands”!
