Crescent Hill Craft House, the latest upgrade happening on Frankfort Avenue, is set to open on Monday, August 25th, and I’m pretty excited. Walking by the former Dark Star Tavern location at 2634 Frankfort Ave this morning, I was able to get a peek inside at the fantastic renovation, and even scope out the menu for this new Louisville restaurant. What I found was nothing short of radical, so I figured I would let you know some specifics in case you want to share in my excitement.
Brad Culver – Partner / GM
Brad started working with Bluegrass Brewing Company (BBC) in 2003 and also worked at Dark Star in the past. This man definitely knows quality food and beer.
Beau Kerley – Partner
Beau is also involved in the day-to-day at BBC.
Pat Hagan – Partner
Pat is one of the founders BBC St. Matthews.
Needless to say, these guys shouldn’t have a tough time bringing in the masses.
Crescent Hill Craft House will have 40 (that’s FORTY) craft beers on tap! Even better, they will all be of the local / regional variety. Of course you can expect to see BBC beers and other Louisville favorites, but with the recent addition of Flat 12 coming to Louisville out of Indy, and other fabulous regional brews like Country Boy, West Sixth, and New Albanian, you’re sure to find something you will enjoy. Beverages other than beer and liquor include Heine Brothers Coffee and Coke products.
Chef Tim Smith, formerly of Napa River Grill and 60 West will be working with local farms and local businesses to bring you an incredibly delicious menu using local and organic ingredients as often as possible. I noticed some intriguing appetizers on the list for Crescent Hill Craft House, including: Poutine (french fries topped with brown gravy, braised short rib, and cheese curds), and Oyster Hushpuppies. The Griddled Cheese on their menu comes with tomato soup for dipping, and includes aged cheddar, cheese curds, and herbed boursin, with the option to add bacon…I think I might. They will also offer some hearty fare like the Pork Barrel Chop, as well as plenty of other creative options. The gluten free items and vegetarian items are marked nicely on the menu, and they will even have a brunch menu for the weekends!
To top this whole shindig off, there will be TVs, music (mostly through the speakers, but occasional live music), and they have created a patio for your outdoor dining enjoyment. Yes, I believe that Crescent Hill Craft House will quickly become one of my favorite Louisville restaurants, and maybe yours too! Why not stop in for the grand opening Monday, August 25th, 2014 at 4:00 pm and welcome them to the Avenue!
