It’s one of our favorite events of the entire year, and one of the best Holiday events that Louisville has to offer. The 29th Annual Bardstown Road Aglow will take place this Saturday, December 6th, 2014 between 5:00pm and 10:00pm. Take the trolley, watch the lighting of the tree at Grinstead and Bardstown, visit participating shops, restaurant, and pubs for great deals, and even enter the ugly Christmas sweater contest!
The Christmas tree lighting at Wendy’s on the corner of Bardstown Rd and Grinstead Dr will begin around 5:45 pm, and typically kicks off the Bardstown Road Aglow event every year. Bring the whole family and get primed for the season!
Selfies With Santa at Bearno’s pizza begins at 6:00 pm and ends at 8:00 pm. $5 to sit on Santa’s lap benefitting Gilda’s Club of Louisville. Hang out with Santa and his elves and eat delicious Louisville-style pizza during this portion of Bardstown Road Aglow.
Polar Palooza will be all sorts of fun on the Qdoba lawn at the corner of Eastern Pkwy and Bardstown Rd. Enjoy music from the DJ, games and face painting for the kids (or the adults), plus, the ugly sweater contest with local celebrity judges will begin at 7:00 pm. Participants will be competing for cash prizes! Finish it off with an Elvis tribute concert at 8:00.
The Holiday Decorating Contest brings a host of local news and magazine personalities, as well as Four Roses Master Distiller, Jim Rutledge, to the door of each Highlands business to judge their decorations. Grand prize, best business appropriate decor, and the Griswold Award are among the prizes that will be given to the best of the best for Highlands business decorations in this year’s Bardstown Road Aglow.
Don’t forget the free Trolley Hop gives patrons of Bardstown Road Aglow trolley rides from the Douglass Loop all the way to Lexington Rd stopping at each of the right places along the way. There will even be live music at the beginning and the end of the trolley line!
There is a lot to do, so plan your way through this awesome Highlands Christmas event. Visit the Bardstown Road Aglow page for all the details including a map of the trolley routes, and participating businesses.
