Cold beer? In an airplane hangar? On a cold winter day? Three times yes! By the way, the hangar is heated. Beer enthusiasts know that a little snow and some record breaking temperatures won’t keep them from tasting some of the country’s best beers from some of the country’s best breweries. Last year more than 2,500 people enjoyed fellowship and flavor at the inaugural Louisville event celebrating craft beer: Tailspin Ale Fest. This year they have decided to spread the festival over a two-day period. Friday, February 20th and Saturday February 21st will mark the second annual Tailspin Ale Fest hosted in Louisville Executive Aviation Hangar at Bowman Field.
Friday from 7:00 pm – 10:00 pm there is a VIP event dubbed “The Barrel Roll” to which only 1,000 tickets are being sold. There are only a few tickets left for Friday as of the date of this post, so get your tickets while you can. The Tailspin Barrel Roll event on Friday will allow you the opportunity to meet and mingle with brewers and industry experts. Your Friday ticket will also grant you access to limited edition brews, barrel-aged beers, bourbon, and craft cocktails while you listen to the smooth, soulful sounds of national recording artist The Pimps of Joytime. Enjoy gourmet food from Fernando Martinez restaurants: El Taco Luchador, Mussel and Burger Bar, Cena, and Guaca Mole while you glide through Tailspin, and bring home photos from the photo booth. This event is guaranteed to be action-packed!
Saturday’s “Winter Warmer” event begins at 3:00 pm and ends at 7:00 pm, and it too is jammed full of awesome. All general admission tickets ($45) to the Saturday portion of Tailspin Ale Fest are sold out, however there are still some VIP tickets ($75) available for Saturday, and who doesn’t want to be VIP anyway? Listen to the Bluegrass sounds on stage while you sample 150 craft beers from 40 different breweries across the country, including 12 breweries from Kentucky! You will also receive a souvenir tasting glass and a 64-ounce glass growler for participating, as well as the opportunity to enter the Tailspin Ale Fest raffle, where 100% of the proceeds go to the Dare to Care Food Bank. VIP tickets allow you to enter the festival at 2:00 pm and include a food voucher for you to visit one the local food trucks and vendors on site for free. Food will also be available all day for purchase.
Beer lovers unite this weekend at Bowman Field for the second annual Tailspin Ale Fest!
